Kick-start in season kick-off!

Ham-Kam provided a season kick-start for themselves and the supporters in a crushing 5-1 victory against Skeid on Monday.

After only 8 minutes. Jan Michaelsen scored his second goal of the day, and gave Ham-Kam the start they had only dreamt of.

Hamarkameratene have not had a pleasant pre-season. The results have caused some serious scepticism. Still, injuries must take some of the blame for the cold winter as far as results are conserned.

Given the worrying pre-season results and injuries, the 5-1 victory was even more important. It will help both the players and the fans gain confidence that promotion, which seemed so obvious only five minutes after Ham-Kam had been relegated in November, is still the only goal this season.

Ham-Kam's first goal, after only 5 minutes of the 2007 season, was Jan Michaelsen's beautiful half-volley close to the post, beyond Skeid goalie Anders Sovik's reach. Tommy Oren should have his part of the glory in this goal after putting the Dane up. Michaelsen's and Ham-Kam's second, 3 minutes later came after a beautiful free-kick.

Even though Jan Michaelsen proved himself to good for this level, and that he and David Mannix hopefully will be a feared duo in Ham-Kam's central midfield, youngster Truls Jevne Hagen stole some of the head lights in this match. In his debut from start in Ham-Kam's first team, he made it clear that he was worthy the confidence the new head coach Arne Erlandsen showed him. Hagen was Ham-Kam's best player from his right back position, and sent a signal that he wants to claim this position as his own.

Hagen and right midfielder Marius Gullerud were the architects behind Ham-Kam's second goal. From close to a dead angle, Tommy Oren finished this attack with the 3-0 goal.

John Anders Rise was the other debutant in Ham-Kam's site Monday night. He formed a good left-hand side with Tommy Oren. In spite of Skeid's 1-3 goal, followed by a misunderstanding of the situation from John Anders Rise, he did a good debut.

4-1 was scored by Markus Ringberg. This represented the striker duo's goal the first 45 minutes of the game. A magnificent start for the lads from Hamar. Results after the first half: Ham-Kam 4 Skeid 1.

Psycologically, it seemed only natural that Ham-Kam felt the victory were theirs when they came out on the pitch after the break. Skeid made a few good break-downs, but were never a threat. Ham-Kam's Olawasegun Abiodun came in with less than 20 minutes left of the game, and showed us all that he was ready to score, which he did only a minute after entering the grass and the new season.

Then, after 82 minutes, starlet Marcus Pedersen made his debut at this level. Together with newly signed previous Kamma-player Thomas Overby, he contributed in Ham-Kam's attack, unfortunately without scoring this time, but he will. He will...

Next week-end there is a derby waiting in Kongsvinger. Will it be Ham-Kam's first away win in the first attempt this season?
