MATCH REPORT: HAM-KAM vs LYN 1-0
Ham-Kam managed to seize three points in the highly important match at home against Lyn Oslo. The victory was not won by excellent play, but who cares?
The battle for survival is not about elegancy or about dancing the ball into the opponent's goal. It's about winning. And win the boys in green and white did on Sunday night.
Roman Kienast was among the starting eleven this Sunday, which he has been to rarely, many would say. He formed the attacking two together with Markus Ringberg. As Ivar Rønningen was suspended, Svein Inge Haagenrud guarded Ham-Kam's goal. Joachim Sørum also played most of the match, as central defender Knut Henry Haraldsen had to leave the pitch after only four minutes.
The match started evenly, but Lyn took took the initiative from around 20 minutes into the first half. Lyn, one of Oslo's mediocratic teams (Oslo is not excactly the locomotive of Norwegian football) had three chances to score, among them a giant possibility for Edu when he got the chance to challenge goalie Haagenrus man to man. Haagenrud, however, proved that he is a good alternative to competitor Rønningen, and brilliantly stopped the Nigerian's effort.
Ham-Kam started the second half well. After ten minutes, Kienast and Ringberg had two consecutive shots that both went wide. Ringberg's from around six metres. Five minutes later, Olawasegun Abiodun replaced Roman Kienast to gain more pace to the attack.
The last 25 minutes belonged mainly to Lyn Oslo. Many were the Kamma-fans that thought this would end in a bitter one- nill defeat.
In spite of Lyn's dominance, Kamma managed to score. Six minutes before full time, Ham-Kam's new Danish star, Morten Bertolt shot from 20 metres. The ball deflected on Markus Ringberg, leaving former Ham-Kam keeper Eddie Gustafsson helplessly eating grass. A heroic effort from the boys from Hamar secured the victory and three points.
